Lengkuas - Galangal

Since I’m still on the topic of singgang, might as well share with you readers how lengkuas looks like.

This is the smaller and cleaner version of the galangal rhizome. You should have seen those sold at pasar borong.

I’ve read somewhere that there are dishes that used the fresh, younger lengkuas as part of the salad ingredient. I dont know whether anyone has tried to bite the old and hardy part of this lengkuas though..hehe..

This lengkuas has medicinal value as well. If you have panau, try rub it with lengkuas. It stings for awhile but better that than having a face with itchy, white spot.

Check out the lengkuas plant picture in my gardening blog, LamanHati.com
